About this mission turned ministry.
the Mission
Something to Hold gifts hand-tied blankets to comfort & surround families that are grieving the loss of a baby from miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant loss. Through curated events, these blankets are community made, encouraging the call to gather & be the hands & feet of Jesus. Rooted in 2 Corinthians 1:3-4, we hope to give the comfort we have received from Him, sharing His love through every blanket & every gathering creating spaces of support & compassion. These blankets are used to reach families walking through loss so that we may carry on the lives of our littles ones & share the gospel along the way.
We are a Christian based, public nonprofit fulfilling the call from 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”
the Blankets
Our blankets are sent as a tangible comfort that are fiercely prayed over. Not only that, they carry an invitation into Something to Hold which offers fellowship, service & a place for purpose.
These blankets are made by a community of volunteers & gifted by generous donors. To request a blanket for a loved one or for yourself, visit our blanket request page here.

the Ministry
What began as a simple desire to gift comfort to families with empty arms has grown into something far deeper — a ministry rooted in the hope of heaven. At Something to Hold, we started by making & sending blankets to families grieving the loss of a baby. Each blanket was a way to offer something tangible when words fell short, a way to show up in the midst of heartbreak with softness, care, & presence.
But as we walked with more families, shared our own story, & witnessed the depth of sorrow & longing, we realized this mission was about more than blankets — it was about reminding people that this isn’t the end of their story. Our faith has taught us that every life, no matter how brief, has eternal significance. Through each blanket given, each gathering held, & every story shared, we are pointing hearts to the comfort we’ve found in Jesus & the hope of being reunited with our babies in heaven one day. Our ministry exists not only to offer something to hold, but to offer Someone to trust — reminding every grieving heart that they are seen, loved, & never walking alone.
the Movement
This started with one blanket & one story — but quickly become a growing movement of compassion, connection, & purpose. Across the country, volunteers are joining forces with Something to Hold—making blankets in their homes, hosting community events, & reaching out to say, “How can I bring this to my city too?” It’s clear that this mission resonates deeply with those who have experienced loss, as well as those who simply want to be part of offering comfort & hope. We believe God is building something bigger than we ever imagined: a nationwide community moved to serve families with empty arms.
Our prayer is to one day see chapters of Something to Hold in cities & states across the U.S. — local teams who can bring this ministry to their own communities, creating spaces of healing, remembrance, & hope. To support this vision, we are actively praying for a dedicated space here in Northwest Indiana we call The Holding Place. This would be the heartbeat of our organization — a physical home for production, operations, shipping, events, & sacred gatherings. A place where volunteers can gather, stories can be shared, & blankets can be prepared. A place where grief is met with grace & where every detail is covered in prayer.
This is more than a mission — it’s a movement & it’s only just beginning.
